Dudley District Court

The Dudley District Court attends to criminal, housing, juvenile, and mental health cases. According to the findings of the District Court Department, Dudley District Court registered 11,152 court filings in the 2020 fiscal year. The court filings are classified into three divisions - Criminal, Civil, and Scheduled Magistrate Hearings.

Under the criminal division, there were 3,414 criminal defendants and 134 search warrants. The civil cases were further classified into 356 regular civil cases, 1,342 small claims, 38 supplementary processes, 4 summary processes, 544 restraining orders, 2020 mental health matters, 164 civil motor vehicle infractions appeals, 59 administrative warrants, and 2 cases were tagged as “other.”

For the Scheduled Magistrate Hearings. The court handled 1,469 civil motor vehicle infractions, 46 non-motor vehicle infractions, and 3,367 show cause cases.

Central Housing Court - Dudley Session

The Central Housing Court - Dudley Session hears civil and criminal matters relating to real estate and its use. The Central Housing Court Department had 5,710 case entries in the 2020 fiscal year. The statistics submitted include 41 criminal cases, 942 civil cases, 137 Probable Cause, 125 Small Claims, 4,266 Summary Processes, 165 Supplementary Processes, 1 Search Warrants/ Utility Warrants, and 33 issued tickets.

The Housing Court Department also recorded 5,663 disposed of cases in the Central division in the 2020 fiscal year. The cases disposed of were 44 criminal cases, 941 civil cases, 130 Probable Causes, 145 Small Claims, 4,219 Summary Processes, 156 Supplementary Processes, 1 search warrant, and 28 tickets.

In the 2020 fiscal year, 162 adoption cases and 1 adult criminal matter were filed in the Worcester County Juvenile Court. Other cases filed, according to the Juvenile Court Department recorded filings for the year were 1,123 Applications for Complaints, 521 Care & Protection, 436 cases on Child Requiring Assistance, 1 Civil contempt, 4 cases on Contributing To Delinquency, 616 cases on Delinquency, 4 Equity cases, 27 Failure to Cause cases, 121 Guardianship matters, 91 Harassment cases, 12 cases on mentally ill people, 1 name change, 47 Paternity/Support, 11 Substance Abuse, 38 hearings on young adult permanency, and 1 youthful offender matter. In the 2020 fiscal year, there was no record of Criminal Contempt cases. In total, 3,217 cases were submitted before the Worcester County Juvenile Court.
